It’s no secret that despite her svelte frame, Deepika Padukone is a real foodie. However, she also indulges sensibly so that it doesn’t impact her health! Chocolate is one of her favourite foods, and she finds a way to include it in her diet that doesn’t compromise on nutrition or taste.
On a trip abroad recently, Deepika posted this picture of chocolates with whole dry fruits and seeds. By combining the goodness of cocoa with unprocessed ingredients like cashews, almonds, sesame seeds and berries, she’s getting the nutrition that these ingredients pack in as well.
Hot chocolate is a potent drink to beat away not just the blues, but also alleviate colds, coughs and soothe the mind and spirit. When consumed with a cup of milk, you also get your daily dose of calcium. Spices like cinnamon and cardamom, when added to the drink, are great for digestion and contain a host of other health benefits.
You can emulate Deepika’s healthy cake as well! While baking a cake, use melted 90 per cent dark chocolate liberally along with whole wheat, palm sugar, olive oil, and skip the icing for just a dusting of icing sugar. This is low in fat, low in processed sugar and contains no maida.
